WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM PDT FRIDAY

for Central and Eastern Lake County; Klamath Basin; Northern and Eastern Klamath County and Western Lake County

Moderate to heavy snow will impact northern California today into Friday. Snow will be wet and heavy and could cause tree limbs/branches to break. Power outages are possible. Heaviest snow will fall in the mountains above 4000 feet, but will also likely impact Interstate 5 near Mount Shasta City. Be prepared for snow-covered and slippery roads and reduced visibility. Other roads impacted will be Sawyers Bar road west of Etna, including Etna Summit, Highway 97 northeast of Weed, and Highway 89 east of Mount Shasta City.

This will create very hazardous travel with slippery, snow covered roads, and periods of poor visibility due to moderate to heavy snow.

If you must travel, carry emergency kit with chains, flashlight, batteries, blankets, food, water, and medications. Be prepared for wintry travel conditions and be sure to check road conditions before venturing out.
