NTSB Report Shows Weather as Probable Cause to Crash

On October 1, 2017 a Cirrus SR22 crashed in the Southern Oregon Cascades en-route from Klamath Falls Ore. to Medford Ore.  The aircraft was piloted by Juan Canopii. Canopii and his wife Chantal died in the crash.  Below is the National Transportation and Safety Board's report on the crash. Canopii was a Sargent with Kingsley Field as well as an actor and comedian.

173rd Provides a Statement About Canopii

A statement from 173rd Fighter Wing, Kingsley Field regarding the plane crash that occurred Sunday in Klamath County.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Airmen, Master Sgt. Juan Canopii. Juan and his wife perished Sunday, October 1 in a small plane crash in Klamath County. Juan was a key part of #TeamKingsley and touched many of the lives of the Airmen he served with. He was well known for his humor and cheerful personality, and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his friends and families during this tragic time. He served with the 173rd Fighter Wing as a member of the aircrew flight equipment section."
