Sky Lakes Receives Multiple National Honors

Sky Lakes Medical Center in the past month has received awards and recognition by four different nationally respected organizations.

“These awards validate our long-standing commitment to excellence,” said Paul Stewart, president and chief executive officer at Sky Lakes. “They also honor the communities we serve and highlight the support we receive that allows us to innovate and continually strive to improve.”

Pulmonary Care Excellence Award
HealthGrades named Sky Lakes among the top 10 percent in the nation for pulmonary care, awarding the medical center a five-star rating. Sky Lakes is also a five-star recipient for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for three consecutive years, and a five-star recipient for the treatment of pneumonia.

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
Sky Lakes earned an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade recognizing the efforts by Sky Lakes staff to protect patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States.

HealthInsight Quality Award
Sky Lakes is among 14 hospitals in Oregon to be recognized by HealthInsight for demonstrating excellence in providing high-quality patient care. The award is based on a composite ranking of performance on quality measures reported to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Sky Lakes ranked in the top one-fourth for the composite score.

NOSORH Performance Leadership Award
Sky Lakes Medical Center has been recognized by The Chartis Center of Rural Health and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for overall excellence in the “Outcomes” category, reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation.

 

Sky Lakes is committed to quality and safety, and the data that comprise the objective measurements by these organizations is proof the hard work of everyone here is worthwhile, said Tom Hottman, Sky Lakes spokesman.

“These achievements honor our proactive, intentional efforts to ensure consistently high-quality care, to put checks in place to help prevent mistakes, and to ensure strong lines of communication among physicians, hospital staff, patients, and families,” he said. “These awards represent significant accomplishments.”
