Second Half Comeback Lifts Owls Over Knights

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Lady Owls of Oregon Tech overcame a 13 point deficit at halftime to pick up a dramatic fourth quarter win by a score of 65-58, Saturday night on Danny Miles Court.
In the first quarter of play, the Lady Owls and Lady Knights were separated by just one point. Junior guard Alix Biddington came off the bench for Tech and scored 9 points for the home team, helping them get them back in the game after going 7 points behind the visitors. The quarter came to a close at 17-16 in favor of the Owls.
The second period saw the Owls struggle to get back into an offensive rhythm, while the Lady Knights picked up their defensive pressure. Warner Pacific's high press would limit Tech to just 5 points over the 10:00 minute quarter, as the visitors added 19 points to their tally. The score sitting 22-35 in favor of the Knights at the halftime break.
The start of the second half saw a renewed effort by the Lady Owls on both ends of the court. Over the next 7:00 minutes Tech would hold the Knights to just 5 points, while running the floor and putting up 16 points of their own, bringing the teams within 2 points of each other. As the buzzer sounded to end the quarter, the difference between the two teams was still just 2 points, at 44-46 in the Knights favor.
With everything to play for in the fourth quarter, both teams ramped up the intensity on the floor. With Warner Pacific fighting to keep their lead, Tech would tie the game twice before taking the lead and force the visitors to chase the game. The Lady Knights would tie the game twice themselves, but were never able to regain the lead. In the final minute of the contest, the Lady Owls would be put on the free-throw line with Biddington hitting both of them to stretch the lead to 7 points and making it a three possession game for the visitors. As the final buzzer sounded, the score read 65-58, with the Lady Owls picking up their second win of the weekend.
On the night, the Knights were led in scoring by Darbi Pink with 14 points and Deepika Kapil adding 12 points.
The Lady Owls were led by Alix Biddington with a career-high night scoring 16 points, and Nohea Waiwaiole who added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Constant contributed 6 points and 10 rebounds, while Megan Morris put in 9 points and grabbed 5 boards.
The win see the Lady Owls move to 3-3 in the CCC standings and 10-6 on the season. The loss drops Warner Pacific to 4-3 in the CCC standings and 8-9 on the season. Oregon Tech will be back in action on Tuesday evening at 5:30pm on Danny Miles Court as they take on regional rival, Southern Oregon.
