Road Construction Alert for Klamath County

It is road construction season in Klamath County.  Here is a current list of projects happening the week of May 21, 2018 by the City of Klamath Falls, Klamath County and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

 

City of Klamath Falls Public Works

Asphalt Crews:
Minor street repairs within the City and County roadways that will include utility cut repair, asphalt patching and crack seal operations on Biehn Street, Oregon Avenue, Prospect Street and North 9th Street in preparation for the upcoming microsurfacing project. Work will take place from 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Sign/Paint Crews:
Installing new signs and replacing and repairing damaged signs throughout the City. Paint Crews will be painting crosswalks, arrows and curbs in various areas throughout the City weather permitting.

The Water Division will be excavating and replacing damaged geothermal piping on the corner of Pine and North 8th Streets. North 8th Street will be closed to traffic between Pine and High Streets on Monday, May 21, 2018 and Tuesday, May 22, 2018 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.

 

Klamath County Public Works

Klamath County will have work crews at the following locations. Please use caution when in these areas and watch for flaggers. If you are able to avoid these work zones, please use alternate routes for your safety and the safety of Klamath County employees.

Skinny Patch (Asphalt)

  • Stateline Road at the Harpold Intersection
  • Schaupp Road
  • Bly Mountain Cut-Off at Bonanza
  • Hilyard Avenue west of South Sixth Street
  • Sprague River Road

Homedale Bridge
Crews will be working on the Homedale Road Bridge south of Airway Drive. Work will include a grind and asphalt inlay.

Crack Seal

  • South Chiloquin Road
  • Modoc Point Road from Williamson River to Highway 97 N
  • Day School Road

In general, flagging stations will be set up at the end of the work zone and delays will be 0-20 minutes for the motoring public. Other minor work is occurring through the County but we are only listing the major items in this announcement.

 

ODOT Region 4 - Klamath County

The Oregon Department of Transportation will be working on the following projects in Klamath County for the week of May 21, 2018: US 97 Link River Bridge, OR 140 Buck Creek Bridge, OR 240 Greensprings Interchange, US 97 Algoma to Miller Island.

  • US 97 Link River Bridge Northbound Connection - The US 97 Link River Bridge northbound off-ramp is closed for repairs through May 31st. Crews are working to replace the existing concrete bridge deck. During construction, US 97 traffic will be detoured to the north and can reach the City Center via the Crater Lake Parkway/Esplanade/Main Street exit. Detour routes will be signed accordingly. 
  • OR 140: Buck Creek Bridge - Marcum & Sons Construction is beginning work to replace the Buck Creek Bridge (MP 22). Traffic will be controlled by a temporary signal and limited to a single lane. Work will take place Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Drivers can expect delays up to 10 minutes.
  • Greensprings Interchange to Klamath Falls/Malin Hwy - Rocky Mountain Construction will be completing shoulder work and installing signs. Minor delays are expected.
  • US 97: Algoma Road to Miller Island Road - Rocky Mountain Construction will be completing minor should work to remove concrete barrier between MP 265.5 - 267.5. Work will take place at night Sunday through Thursday from 7pm to 7am. Expect delays up to 20 minutes.
