UPDATE: Monday, December 3, 2018 - 12th annual History Fitness Hike rescheduled

New registration deadline is Dec. 6

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Klamath County Museum’s 12th annual History Fitness hike has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8.

Registration deadline for the event is Thursday, Dec. 6.  The hike was postponed from the past weekend due to weather.

The event is designed to encourage outdoor exercise while exploring local history. The hike is free, but a donation is requested to defray expenses.

Participants will be transported by bus from the Museum at 1451 Main Street to the hike starting point at Reames Golf and Country Club. The hike will cover about five miles, with interpretive stops at several historic sites along the way.

The hike is rated as easy, though it is recommended only for people capable of walking long distances. The entire route will be on paved roads or sidewalks.

Historic sites along Riverside Drive in Klamath Falls will be explored during the Klamath County Museum’s 12th annual History Fitness hike on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Registration deadline for the event is Nov. 28. The hike is free, but a donation is requested to defray expenses.

“Our hike will take folks past several historic residences, as well as the townsite of Merganser, which predated Linkville,” said museum manager Todd Kepple. “We’ll also see where some of the community’s founders lived in the late 1800s.”

The hike is rated as easy, though it is recommended only for people capable of walking long distances. The entire route will be on paved roads or sidewalks. Participants should prepare for any kind of weather, though the hike may be postponed in the event of extremely harsh weather.
