Owls Extend Win Streak to 10 with Sweep of UBC

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.-  Oregon Tech extended its Cascade Conference leading win streak to 10-games with a doubleheader sweep of the University of British Columbia Sunday afternoon at the OIT Softball Complex. Tech improves to 19-5 on the year and 8-1 in CCC play, the Thunderbirds fall to 3-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play with today's results.

Game 1 OIT 6 UBC 3

The Thunderbirds started hot with 4-hits in the top of the first leading to 2-runs but they left 2-runners in scoring position.

Tech answered with 1-run in the bottom of the the first on a Tara Moates RBI single cutting the lead to 2-1.

The Owls then scored 2-runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning on and 2-RBI double off the bat of Shayna Ige (ee-gay) taking their first lead at 3-2.

UBC tied the game at 3-3 with 1-run the top of the 3rd on a Paige Harbord triple. They however left two more base runners in scoring position, on a number that would grow to 9 by the end of the game.

Tech took the lead for good with 1-run in the 4th and 2-runs in the 6th highlighted by a Moates 2-run single sealing the win at 6-3.

Loryn Williams picked up the win for OIT pitching the final 3 and 1/3 allowing no runs and only 3-hits as she improved to 2-1 on the year.

Moates, Rachael Delamare, and McKenna Armantrout led the Owls with 2-hits each in the win.

UBC was led by Harbord, Sydney Brown, Frances Ramsay and Shaelyn Ogilvie with 2-hits each for the T-Birds.

Game 2 OIT 4 UBC 1 (non-conference)

Oregon Tech's Sarah Abramson and Ali Graham combined on a 4-hitter in the circle leading the Owls to the 4-1 win. Abramson pitched the first 5 innings allowing just 1-run with 7-strikeouts improving to 6-2 on the year with Graham holding UBC hitless over the final 2-innings.

Tech scored twice in the bottom of the 2nd inning on 4-hits highlighted by a Graham double.

The Owls added 1-run in the 3rd on a Delamare triple and one more run in the 5th on yet another hit by Graham.

UBC scored its only run of the game in the top of the 5th on a Mackenzie Siddall RBI single.

Tech's Graham, Delamare, and Baylee Wyscaver all had 2-hits and an RBI to lead OIT in the game two win.

The Owls will take their the 10-game win streak to Salem, Oregon next Friday and Saturday against No. 8 Corban University. The Warriors currently lead the CCC with a 7-0 record and have won 9-games in a row.
