ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – NCAA Division II Sonoma State University outscored Oregon Tech 7-4 in overtime as the Seawolves won the exhibition contest 62-59 Friday Night at the Wolves Den.

"For our first competition of the season, on the road vs a quality opponent with 6 of our 11 players being freshman in their first college action," said Head Coach Scott Meredith. "I feel as good as possible considering it was a loss We started off strong with 18 first quarter points but struggled offensively in the 2nd quarter. The second half was evenly played and I was impressed with our composure late in the game. We made some great plays at both ends to come back and push it into overtime. Unfortunately, we didn't help ourselves at the line and really didn't shoot it well overall. However, I am encouraged with our effort and am excited about the potential of this group."

Freshman Melissa Lee paced the Owls with 11-points with senior Megan Morris adding 9-points. Fellow freshman Kristin Farrell and sophomore Abby Kreiser each adding 8-points for the Owls.

Tech shot 21 of 65 from the floor while hitting on 6 of 12 from long range.

The real difference in the game was at the foul line as the Wolves hit 16 of 128 free throws while OIT was 11-18 at the charity stripe.

Tech was out rebounded 40-29 including 19 offensive rebounds by Sonoma State.

Tech was supposed to play Northwest Indian College on Sunday at Danny Miles Court but that game has been cancelled with no make-up date yet announced. The Owl will instead focus on a trip back to California next weekend, November 2 and 3rd for the William Jessup Bill Holtz Classic in Rocklin. OIT will face William Jessup Friday at 5:00 pm and Bethesda College Saturday at 11:00 am.
