Lady Owls Lose Out In CCC Home Opener

Klamath Falls, Ore. – In the home opening contest of CCC play in Klamath Falls on Danny Miles Court, the Oregon Tech Lady Owls (5-4) dropped to the Yotes of College (1-6) of Idaho by a score of 52-49.
In the opening quarter of play, the Lady Owls jumped out to a 19-8 lead over the Lady Yotes. Coming off the bench, Megan Morris sparked the Tech offense, with 12 points, hitting 2 of 3 attempts from the 3-point stripe.
Coming back out in the 2nd quarter, the Yotes knocked down the first 10 points, cutting the lead to just 1 at 19-18, before the Owls called a timeout to regroup. Off the timeout, the Yotes continued to be a handful for the Owls, as the visitors took the lead with the score of 22-21. C of I maintained the narrow margin over Tech until the final possession of the half, when a put-back by Mikaela Shumaker in the paint saw the Owls enter the halftime break leading 28-27.
The first 5 minutes of the 2nd half saw very little offensive production, with the teams splitting just 4 points. Coming out of a timeout, the Owls started pressing, forcing the pace of the game to quicken. With the teams running the floor, offensive production picked up, but the Yotes held a slight lead at 38-36 heading into the final quarter of play.
The Lady Yotes battled to hold their lead with the Owls scrapping to climb ahead over the next 10 minutes. Tech was able to tie the game up three times, but unable to gain the lead. The contest ended with an Oregon Tech look from the 3-point line to send the game into overtime, but the shot hit the rim and bounced out as the buzzer sounded, as the Yotes picked up their first win of the season.
On the evening, the Yotes were led by Keahi-lele Roy with 11 points, while Alyssa Case put up 9 points and grabbed 7 boards, while Lindy Westendorf added 7 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lady Owls were led by freshman, Amanda Constant with a double-double, grabbing 13 rebounds and putting up 10 points, while Megan Morris put up 16 points, and Nohea Waiwaiole had 8 points and 8 boards.
The Lady Owls will be back in action on Sunday, December 3, as they host NAIA nationally rated Eastern Oregon, with a 4:00pm start on Danny Miles Court.
