Klamath Heritage: Klamath Falls View 1974

Klamath County Museum’s Photo of the Week for May 5, 2019, shows a view of Lake Ewauna and Klamath Falls as seen in 1974.

Modoc Lumber Co. was the last remaining lumber mill operating on the shore of Lake Ewauna by this time. Logs can be seen stored in the water, and decked on dry ground as well. The company used a lot adjacent to Veterans Park for air-drying lumber.

A portion of the downtown area is seen at far left. Development on the lower slopes of Hogback Mountain had not begun when this photo was taken by Harry Drew, then-director of the Klamath County Museum.
