Klamath Falls Police Officer Involved in Shooting

On November 24, 2017 at approximately 4:30pm, officers and detectives from the Klamath
Falls Police Department investigated an attempted murder incident at a residence in Klamath
Falls. During the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest the
suspect for the crimes of Attempted Murder, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Burglary in the first
degree, Menacing, Assault in the fourth degree, and Reckless Endangering. The suspect fled
the residence prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

On November 24, 2017 at 9:35pm, an officer from the Klamath Falls Police Department
contacted the suspect in the 2100 block of Darrow Ave. The officer attempted to take the
suspect into custody and a shooting occurred. The officer was not injured and the suspect
died as a result of the shooting. The names of the officer and suspect are being withheld at
this time.

Detectives from the Oregon State Police have taken the primary role in the investigation with
the assistance of the Klamath County Major Crime Team. The officer has been placed on
administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

Additional information regarding the incident will be coordinated and disseminated by the
Oregon State Police and Klamath County District Attorney.
