KCC Honors Jim and Sherry Bellet

KLAMATH FALLS – Klamath Community College has named former Klamath County Commissioner Jim Bellet and Sherry Bellet emeritus board members of the KCC Foundation.
“Both Jim and Sherry have made tremendous contributions to the college, and I believe they are an example of the community we live in,” said KCC Foundation Chair Steve Tippin. “Their support is greatly appreciated by the college and the Foundation.”
The Bellets have been committed to KCC and the college’s mission for more than two decades.
The honor recognizes their dedication and support of KCC spanning back to the college’s inception.
Jim served as a founding member of KCC and was a member of the college’s first board of
education. The board hired KCC’s first college president in 1996. His involvement and support of KCC has been continuous ever since.
Most recently, Jim co-chaired KCC’s Completing the Transformation campaign, which raised more than $800,000 for the college’s new Work Skills Technology Center.
“It’s amazing what the college has done in just 21 short years,” Jim said.
Sherry joined the KCC Foundation in November 2002 and served as Foundation chair from 2003 to 2009. She remained a trustee until 2011. Sherry is known for the leadership and coordination she provided for fundraisers, securing major donations, and increasing KCC’s scholarship fund through donations of cash and equipment.
“The legacy of the Bellets’ support will continue for many decades to come. Their belief in KCC and dedication to its advancement has and will continue to provide a way for anyone in our community to improve their lives through education,” said KCC President Dr. Roberto Gutierrez.
As emeritus board members, Jim and Sherry are considered a part of the KCC Foundation board and can, but are not required to, participate in board functions, meetings, and events.
