ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Menlo Oaks opened up an 18 point lead with 14:52 left in the game and hung on for the 82-73 win over No. 16 Oregon Tech (2-1) Friday at the Bill Holtz Classic at William Jessup University.

Five players scored in double figures for Menlo which ran its record to 2-0 on the young season.

Oregon Tech sophomore Mitchell Fink led all scorers in the game with 27 points in the loss.

The Owls got off to a horrible start as they were 0-11 in the first half from long range, and were just 2-7 at the foul line as they trailed 30-21 at the break.

Tech eventually cut the lead down to just six points late but were forced to foul down the stretch and the Oaks made them pay as they were 26-39 at the charity stripe to preserve the win.

Tech will look to rebound when they play the host school William Jessup (3-0) on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
