Vehicle pursuit ends with arrest of Redmond man

Early Sunday morning, two Klamath County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies observed a 1998 Dodge pickup operated by 22 year old Daniel Olane of Redmond, Oregon, driving recklessly in the area of Crater Lake Parkway and South 6th Street. Deputies attempted to stop the truck, yet Olane failed to stop. A vehicle pursuit launched at high speeds heading into the downtown area of Klamath Falls

Due to an extreme risk to public safety, the pursuit was terminated after speeds approached 75 miles per hour.

The pickup was later spotted by the KCSO a short time later and another attempt at stopping the vehicle led to a second pursuit on Foothills Blvd. The pursuit continued through a portion of the south suburban area where, once again, the pursuit was terminated.

Shortly after the second pursuit ended the pickup was again located for a third time and followed out of town. One last pursuit began southbound on Highway 39 towards Merrill.

The speed of the third chase reached 95 miles per hour when the driver attempted to cross a ditch and became stuck south of Chin Road.

After becoming stuck, Olane ran on foot.

Olane was taken into custody in a field, reportedly, wet and covered with dirt and cow manure.

Officer Trahern Fox and K9 Bullitt, from the Klamath Falls Police Department aided KCSO Deputies in the apprehension of Olane.

Daniel Olane was arrested and lodged in the Klamath County Jail, after being treated and released from Sky Lakes Medical Center.

Olane was charged with:

• Attempt to Elude (Vehicle),

• Attempt to Elude (on Foot),

• Reckless Driving,

• Reckless Endangering,

• and Possession of a Controlled Substance -Methamphetamine (Felony)
