"The City of Your Final Destination" with Oscar-winner and Klamath Alum James Ivory

Considered one of the most successful independent filmmakers of all time, James Ivory grew up in Klamath Falls, graduated Klamath Union and has gone on to make dozens of films over a 50 year career which have been nominated for dozens of Oscars. Last year Mr. Ivory became the eldest filmmaker to win an Oscar for his "Call Me By Your Name" screenplay, which he presented at a special Klamath Film event last Fall.

This year Mr. Ivory has selected his 2009 film "The City of Your Final Destination" starring Anthony Hopkins for show (description/details below). Mr. Ivory will again be in attendance to provide a question and answer session with the audience after the film, and also a special reception with light food and drink before the film, as an opportunity to meet and engage our esteemed Oscar-winning Klamath filmmaker. The pre-film reception runs from 5pm-6pm in the main lobby of the Ross Ragland, with the film starting at 6pm in the main theater followed by Q&A with the audience.

In "The City of Your Final Destination" young academic Omar travels unannounced to the exotic landscape of modern day Uruguay in hopes of convincing the heirs of famous deceased writer Jules Gund to grant him authorization to write a biography on Gund. During his stay Omar unravels the stories of the heirs: Gund's brother, wife, and mistress.

General admission is $10 (Klamath Film members receive a $5 discount code). Tickets may also be purchased at the door but there is limited seating for this special showing. For a more detailed synopsis, film trailer and tickets see www.klamathfilm.org/city-final.
