Thanksgiving Travel

WeatherStory1.png

Most of us will see rain over the next three days. If you are traveling over the higher Cascades passes, you could encounter some snow Wednesday through Friday. Most of the snow will fall during the evening hours of Thanksgiving Day. Places likes Crater Lake and Mt Ashland will likely see snow with the incoming weather systems.

After more than three weeks with little to no rainfall, we expect moderate to heavy rain to affect portions of Southern Oregon and Northern California during this busy travel time. This means that all the oil built up from the past weeks will raise to the surface when it begins to rain. Also, there will be an increase in number of travelers during this busy season. All of this will cause slippery roads and increase the risk for accidents. Therefore, it is important to take it slow, especially when going around corners and when going downhill. Check road conditions at:

  • Oregon road conditions: ODOT

  • California road conditions: Caltrans
