Empowering Young Women Through Scholarship, Education, and Community Service
Ten of Klamath’s most accomplished young women will compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes in the upcoming 43rd annual Miss Klamath County-Miss City of Sunshine Scholarship Pageant.
The pageant, with “The Greatest Show” theme, will be held at 7:00 PM at the Mills Auditorium on Saturday, April 7, 2018 Featured special guests will include Miss City of Sunshine Rylee Smith, Miss Klamath County Shelby Foley and the 2018 Sister Act Princesses.
Presented by the Women’s Scholarship Foundation of Klamath County, the competition is an official preliminary pageant of the Miss America Pageant. Providing over $45 million annually, the Miss America Organization is the largest private provider of scholarships for women ages 17-25 in the world.
The emphasis of the pageant is to encourage, acknowledge and reward excellence and achievement among young women. Since its inception the Miss Klamath County-Miss City of Sunshine Pageant along with benefactors has offered almost $500,000.00 in scholarships to area young women. This year’s program will offer over $20,000.00 in scholarships and prizes including an in-kind tuition scholarship to Klamath Community College.
First year pageant director Sheri Hargrave said “I am extremely proud to be part of this outstanding program which truly does make a difference in strengthening the lives of young women. I am also very proud of each of the contestant this year they are a great group of young women and have a lot to offer our community.”
Tickets for the pageant are available at online at www.eventbrite.com or at the door. Tickets at the door are $25.00 for adults and Kids 5-12 $15 (only cash or checks will be accepted at the door). All tickets are general admission.
Judges for the event are Erik Carlson of Medford, Oregon; Dave Martin of Vancouver, Washington,; Kayla Shepherd of Vancouver, Washington; Kaitlin Endres of San Diego, California; and Tami Sanders or Salem, Oregon.
