Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Tech baseball completes their weekend sweep of the College of Idaho, hitting strong in game 1, and holding onto their lead late in the matchup, winning 7-5. Game 2 saw the two teams need extra innings to find a winner. The Owls won in epic fashion, in the bottom of the 12th inning, picking up the second win by a score of 6-2.

Game 1:

Tech started the scoring on the day in the bottom of the 2ndinning, with Ryan Riepma hitting a deep sacrifice fly that allowed Michael Tarakhchyan to tag at 3rd base and make it home safely.
Both teams added runs in the 3rd inning, with the visitors tying it up at 2-2, as the Yotes scored on a sacrifice bunt, sending home a runner from 3rd base.

The bottom of the 6th inning saw the home team open up the game, scoring 3 runs. Alex Poltz sent a deep shot to center field sending home Austin Zavala. Later, Ryan Riepma singeled to right field, sending home Poltz. The final run scored was Riepma scoring on a dropped fly ball in right field.

C of I picked up 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning, but Tech muted those runs scoring 1 run in the bottom of both the 7thand 8th inning. A single last run was scored in the top of the 9th inning by the Yotes, but the game ended with a score of 7-5 in favor of the Owls.
Picking up his 6th win of the season was Owls starting pitcher John Schulz, tossing 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and striking out 5 batters.

Trask Telesmanich threw 2 innings, earning the save. He gave up 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 3 batters.

Game 2:

Game 2 saw very little offensive production convert on the scoreboard. A deep double by the Yotes, with a runner in scoring position, took the score 1-0 for the visitors.

The home team tied it up in the 5th inning, with an infield throwing error on a single by Micah Jio, sending Tarakhchyan home from scoring position.

Josh Kallstrom would tag all four bags, as he sent a solo homerun over the left field wall.

C of I tied up the game in the bottom of the 8th inning, as a runner on 3rd base was able to steal home on an error by the third baseman.  The score sat 2-2 through 9, sending the contest to extra innings.

The bottom of the 12th inning concluded the game in epic fashion. With the bases loaded and the winning run on 3rd, Josh Kallstrom stepped to the plate. Ending the extra inning dual, Kallstom smashed a walk-off grand slam over the leftfield wall. The hit takes Kallstrom to 8 homeruns on the season, tying him for 1st in the NAIA West division. He also leads the league with a batting average of .417 and 65 hits with 19 doubles, and second in RBIS with 37.

Awarded the win on the mound was Trask Telesmanich, but it was a team effort. Josh Davis threw 7 innings, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits, and striking out 6 batters. Logan Nousen also threw 4.1 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, and retiring 2 batters.\

Tech now moves to 10-13 in the conference standings and 21-23 overall.

The Owls will host their alumni game on April 14, before returning to conference play hosting Lewis-Clark State College on April 22 and 23.
