Fire crews make progress near Beatty

BLY, Ore. – Firefighters are making great progress on the Sycan River and Yellow Jacket fires in Klamath County near Beatty. Both burns are holding steady as fire crews begin to contain the fires. The Sycan River Fire is 679 acres with 10 percent containment. The Yellow Jacket Fire is 34 acres with 20 percent containment. Smoke from both fires is visible in the area.

Sycan River Fire burns northeast of Beatty [UPDATED]

BLY, Ore. – According to South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership and the Klamath County Emergency Manager, the Sycan River Fire is burning 1-mile north of Sycan Forest Estates, 20 miles north of Beatty, Ore. As of 5:30 PM, the fire is estimated to be approximately 250 acres in size with no containment. The fire is primarily wind-driven and burning in mixed conifer and bush. The cause is under investigation.
