OAKRIDGE, Ore. – Crews are removing loose and hazardous rocks from the hillsides at both ends of the OR 58 Salt Creek Tunnel beginning Saturday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Sept. 15. All work will be done during the day, with lanes closed for safety as needed around the tunnel at milepost 56. Expect work zone delays of up to 20 minutes.

The preliminary investigation indicates a gray 2006 Dodge 1500 pickup being operated by Douglas NELSON, age 35, from Troutdale, was traveling eastbound when for an unknown reason lost control and crossed into the path of an oncoming westbound blue 2006 Honda CRV being operated by, Ashley RUSSELL, age 27, from Veneta.
