Mazama High Student Arrested

On Thursday morning the Mazama School Resource Officer found drugs and a firearm in a students’ vehicle while investigating a report of two students smoking marijuana in the parking lot. Juan Zambrano-Lopez, 18, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on school property. Another student was cited for Minor in Possession of Tobacco and Marijuana.

School Board Selects Szymoniak as Next Superintendent

Glen Szymoniak will be the next superintendent of the Klamath County School District. The KCSD Board of Directors unanimously approved a three-year contract with Szymoniak during a special meeting Thursday morning.

“Both my wife and I are just elated. I can’t stress how excited we are and looking forward to moving there,” Szymoniak said. “Out of all the superintendent openings we were looking at, Klamath County was the place we really wanted to be.”

School Board Sets Qualities and Qualifications for New Superintendent

Continuing the process of searching for the next superintendent of the Klamath County School District, the Klamath County School Board selected a list of qualities and qualifications it will use in reviewing application s and interviewing applicants.

Steve Kelley, the Oregon School Boards Association consultant aiding the KCSD board on the search, said the list of qualities and qualifications will be a guide to help board members find the right person for the job.
