KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Mazama High School junior Charles Kaufman never envisioned he would be able to confidently speak in front of a group much less win a public speaking scholarship to help pay for a German student exchange trip.

The students, who range from freshmen to seniors, represent one of the largest qualifying groups in the high schools’ recent history to attend the national event.
The students will be in San Antonio, Texas, June 27 to July 3.
