For the first time in the 2018-19 winter snow season, several inches of snow has blanketed the Klamath Basin and continues to fall at the time of this update. Reports are coming in from various points in the Basin, ranging from 3 to 6 inches of the freshly fallen snow.

The National Weather Service continues to show a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Storm Advisory until 4:00 PM today (12/1/18). Up to an additional 6 to 9 inches is possible by this afternoon.

  • ORE140 Lake of the Woods:
    Packed snow. Snowing hard and continuously. Chains required on vehicles towing or over 10,000 GVW.

  • ORE140 Bly Mountain Summit:
    Packed snow. Snowing hard and continuously. Carry chains or traction tires.

  • ORE66 Green Springs Summit:
    Packed snow. Snowing hard and continuously. Carry chains or traction tires.

Plan on difficult driving conditions. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous driving conditions. If you must travel, carry; tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged cell phone with you.

Today: Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. High near 36. West wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tonight: A chance of snow showers before 10pm, then a slight chance of snow showers after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Light west wind.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 12. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 33. East wind 3 to 5 mph.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow after 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 15. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
