CHILOQUIN — Sage Community School announced today that it will begin their celebration of National School Choice Week 2018 at the regular business meeting of the Klamath County Board of Commissioners on January 16, 2018 at 8:30 AM.  The commissioners will be issuing a proclamation for School Choice Week in Klamath County.  By issuing a proclamation recognizing School Choice Week in the community, Klamath County will help raise awareness of the many public and nonpublic schools that serve students and families.

SCS is a Public Charter school serving grades K-8 with a student enrollment of 70.

SCS is also hosting a Poster and Essay contest for its students.  Students are encouraged to tell their story about why SCS is their choice school.  Prizes have been graciously donated by Children’s Museum of Klamath Falls, Epicenter, Klamath Ice Sports – Bill Collier Community Ice Arena, The Ledge, and Wild Pigments Studio.

Started in 2011, National School Choice Week is the world's largest annual education-related celebration. The goal of NSCW, which features participation from tens of thousands of schools and organizations, is to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for children.

During National School Choice Week, schools across America celebrate the challenging, motivating, and effective education they provide to students. At the same time, parents use the week to learn more about the education options available to their children, in advance of the upcoming school year.

National School Choice Week is nonpartisan and nonpolitical, and is not related to any legislative advocacy effort.
