Owls Split with Eastern Oregon to Open up Conference Play

MEDFORD, Ore.-  Oregon Tech (9-5, 1-1 CCC) and Eastern Oregon (4-6, 1-1 CCC) split a Cascade Conference double header Saturday with OIT taking game one 6-0 and EOU bouncing back to win the night cap 3-1 at US Cellular Field 8.
 
The series was moved to Medford due to snow and poor field conditions in both Klamath Falls and La Grande.
 
Game 1 – Oregon Tech 6 Eastern Oregon 0
 
Kelly Scott pitched a two-hit shutout in game 1 and Oregon Tech got home runs from Tara Moates and Dre Sotelo on the way to the 6-0 win.
 
Scott had nine strikeouts on the way to her 6th win of the year for the Owls.
 
Kiahna BrownSahalie Doe and Sotelo had 2-hits each for Tech in the win.
 
Ashton Kazmierski was pegged with the loss giving up 9-hits and 6-runs for EOU.
 
Game 2 - Eastern Oregon 3 Oregon Tech 1
 
Eastern Oregon took game two by a score of 3-1 to earn the split as Hailey Kline only allowed five OIT hits and one earned run in a complete game effort.
 
Bobbi Bertsch put Eastern Oregon up 3-0 with a 2-run homer in the top of the third inning; it was her first long ball of the year.
 
Shevan Defreitas led the Mountaineers with 2-hits in the win.
 
Tara Moates had 2-hits for OIT in the loss.
 
Tech's Loryn Williams picked-up her first loss of the year giving up 3-runs and 5-hits in 3 and a third innings.
 
The two teams will play again on Sunday in a double header scheduled for 11:00 am at US Cellular Fields in Medford, Oregon.
