Owls Hustle Past Yotes in Sweep

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.-  Oregon Tech (19-23, 8-13 NAIA-W) combined for 32-hits and 18-runs as they swept an NAIA-West doubleheader 10-7 and 8-2 over College of Idaho (10-27, 3-18 NAIA-W) Sunday afternoon as the teams kicked-off a four game series at Kiger Stadium.

College of Idaho took an early 1-0 lead with 1-run on 1-hit, taking advantage of 2-walks and 2-wild pitches.
 
Tech came right back with four-runs of their own in the bottom of the inning on 4-hits highlighted by a double off the bat of Justin Jordan and an RBI single by Josh Kallstrom.
 
College of Idaho then tied the game at 4-4 with three runs in the top of the third on a huge two-run home run by Austin Van Horne, it was his second homer of the year.
 
Tech took control back in the bottom of the 4th scoring three-runs on three hits highlighted by an Austin Zavala RBI double giving the hooter a 7-4 lead.
 
Tech added an insurance run in the bottom of the 7th as Josh Kallstrom absolutely crushed his conference leading 8thhomer of the season over the left field fence giving the Owls an 8-4 lead.
 
Turns out OIT would need that run as C of I would score three runs in the top of the 8th taking advantage of two-walks, two-hits and an OIT error as they cut the lead to 8-7.
 
OIT chipped on two more runs in the bottom of the frame highlighted by a Kevin Montgomery double to right-center.
 
Tech's Doug Molzahn picked up the win to improve to 4-3 on the year.
 
Game 2 Oregon Tech 8 College of Idaho 2
 
After College of Idaho scored a run in the top of the first, Tech answered with 5-runs including a grand-slam homer off the bat of Alex Poltz.
 
OIT added a run the 6th on doubles by Kallstrom and Ryan Riepma to go up 6-1.
 
The Yotes added a run in the 8th on a hit batter and an RBI double by Johnny Hyland.
 
Kallstrom and Alex Poltz each doubled and Riempa tripled in the 8th as the Owls added two-runs and held on for the 8-2 win.
 
Chase Wago threw a complete game five-hitter, picking up the win improving to 7-2 on the year.
