Oregon Tech Women’s XCountry CCC Team of the Week

LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Oregon Tech women's cross country team and the Corban University volleyball team have been named the CCC "Teams of the Week" for October 30-November 5, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced.
 
The Oregon Tech harriers claimed their first ever CCC championship on Saturday. The Lady Owls finished the day with 53 points, led by three All-CCC runners. Danielle De Castro placed second individually, crossing the finish line in 18:05.50. Cindy Reed took fourth place in 18:16.60, followed by Susie Garza in ninth place in a time of 18:54.20. Other runners to score included Annika Anderson in fourteenth place and Mallory Ward in twenty-fourth. The squad earned the leagues automatic bid to the NAIA National Meet that will hosted by the CCC at Historic Fort Vancouver in Vancouver, Wash. on November 18. The Lady Owls also moved up to No. 6 in Sunday's NAIA Top 25 Poll. The No. 6 ranking is the highest in school History. The OIT Men stayed at the No. 24 spot in this week's men's poll.

Corban also made program history winning a program first regular season championship. The Warriors defeated Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech to run their CCC record to 17-3. With the title also came the first of two league automatic bids to the NAIA Volleyball Championships.  No. 10 Corban (22-7, 17-3 CCC) also earned the right to host the conference tournament final site. Semifinals and finals will be held at C.E. Jeffers Sports Center Nov. 10-11 where winners from Tuesday quarterfinals will join No. 1 seed Corban and No. 2 seed The College of Idaho.
