Oregon Tech Baseball’s Doug Molzahn Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

Austin, Texas – Oregon Tech Baseball starting pitcher Doug Molzahn has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Second Team Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Molzahn who is a Medical Lab Science Major has a 3.95 GPA and becomes the first baseball player in program history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Molzahn has a career 9-7 record at Oregon Tech, starting in a total of 23 games for the Owls with 125 strikeouts and a 4.36 ERA.

"We are very excited for Doug," remarked Head Coach Matt Miles. "Doug is a young man willing to have the great work ethic required to excel both on the field and in the classroom. The true meaning of a student-athlete."

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Teams include student-athletes from the NAIA, Canadian, and two-year institutions. The award winners receive the honor based on a combined merit – both on the field and in the classroom.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Team produced an average GPA of 3.88 with the first team combining for an average GPA of 3.89. The team includes five student-athletes with 4.0 GPA and two graduate students.

The 2018 Oregon Tech baseball team finished the season with a 24-28 record, the third most wins in school history, and the most wins since 2010.
