One Person Dies in Single Vehicle Crash on Hwy 62 near Crater Lake

On Friday, September 28, 2018 at approximately 2:29 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 62 at milepost 58 near the entrance to Crater Lake National Park.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2001 Nissan pickup operated by Darrell Crittenden (69) of Prescott, AZ, was traveling westbound on Hwy 62 when for unknown reasons veered off the road and struck a tree.

Crittenden suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hwy 62 was reduced to one lane of travel following the crash for approximately 3 hours. OSP was assisted by Crater Lake National Park Rangers and ODOT.
