ODOT Surveys Truckers Hauling Highway 97

The Oregon Department of Transportation is developing a plan that will recommend investments to improve freight safety and function on U.S. 97 in Oregon.

ODOT needs input from truckers using Highway 97 and ask truckers to complete a short survey to help ODOT understand their experiences with safety and travel on U.S. 97.

Answers provided by truck drivers will help ODOT prioritize investments in this important corridor.

About the U.S. 97 Freight Plan

With growth in both general and freight traffic along U.S. 97, and increasing concerns about safety and delays, ODOT decided in 2016 to develop a freight plan specifically for the U.S. 97 corridor in Oregon. The first phase was completed in 2017 and identified existing issues with roadway design, crashes, and facilities, from climbing lanes to rest stops.

ODOT is currently undertaking Phase 2, which will ultimately recommend specific investments to improve freight mobility and safety along this corridor. Draft findings from this phase are anticipated to be available for review in January 2019.
