Musical film ‘Allegiance’ to be Shown in Klamath Falls

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A film version of the Broadway musical “Allegiance” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Pelican Cinemas in Klamath Falls.

The feature-length movie tells the story of a Japanese-American family that was incarcerated during World War II. Among the film’s stars is George Takei, best known for portraying the character Sulu in the original Star Trek television series.

Tickets for the movie will cost $18 each at the box office.

A limited number of half-price tickets can be purchased for $9 each at the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main St. in Klamath Falls. The discount price for tickets is made possible by funding provided by the Klamath County Cultural Coalition, the Klamath County Museum, the Shaw Historical Library, and the Tule Lake Committee.

“Obviously, these sponsors are hoping that everyone who would like to see this film can afford to do so,” said Klamath County Museum manager Todd Kepple. “We believe that anyone who is interested in gaining a deeper understanding of what Japanese-Americans went through during incarceration should see this film.

“We are pleased that Coming Attractions Theatres, which owns Pelican Cinemas, was able to make special arrangements to bring this movie to Klamath Falls,” Kepple said. “Without their effort, we would have to have driven to Bend or Medford to see this film.”
