Nine of Klamath’s most accomplished young women will compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes in the upcoming 44th annual Miss Klamath County-Miss City of Sunshine Scholarship Pageant.

The pageant, with “Swing Time” theme, will be held at 6:00 PM at the Mills Auditorium on Saturday, April 13, 2019 Featured special guests will include 2018 Miss Klamath County Nicole Carter and Miss Klamath County Princess Rylee Hollingsworth and the 2019 Sister Act Princesses.

Presented by the Women’s Scholarship Foundation of Klamath County, the competition is an official preliminary pageant of the Miss America Pageant. , The Miss America Organization, a 501(C)(4) non-profit organization, is the nation's leading advocate for women's education and the largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women in the United States, awarding millions of dollars annually. The Miss America Organization is comprised of 51 organizations, including all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Miss America contestants contribute tens of thousands of community service hours annually and have raised over $16 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Miss America scholarships since 2007. The emphasis of the pageant is to encourage, acknowledge and reward excellence and achievement among young women. Since its inception the Miss Klamath County-Miss City of Sunshine Pageant along with benefactors has offered almost $500,000 in scholarships to area young women. This year’s program will offer over $20,000 in scholarships and prizes including an in-kind tuition scholarship to Klamath Community College.

Pageant director Sheri Hargrave said “I am extremely proud to be part of this program which truly does make a difference in strengthening the lives of young women. I am also very proud of each of the contestant this year they are a great group of young women and have a lot to offer our community”

Tickets for the pageant are available at online at www.eventbrite.com or at the door. Tickets on line are $20.00, at the door are $25.00 for adults. Kids 5-11 are $15 on line and $20.00 at the door. (only cash or checks will be accepted at the door). All tickets are general admission.
