Men’s Relay Team Leads Owls at SF Distance Carnival

HAYWARD, Calif. – The Oregon Tech men's relay teams had a good at the San Francisco Distance Carnival as they broke a school record and won two events at Chabot College Saturday.
 
The men's 4 x 100m team composed of Josiah StroupDonnie Pate (Pictured), Angel Valdez and Travis Thomas broke the School record on the way to winning the event in a time of 42.52 beating the old mark of 42.71.
 
The men's 1600 Sprint medley team composed of Paul Wyatt, Pate, Valdez, and Thomas finished 1st in a time 3:31.09. The race is 200m-200m-400m-800m.  
 
Women's Highlights Day 2
 
Susie Garza finished 2nd in her section in the 800 in a time of 2:14.41 hitting an NAIA "B" qualifying mark and just missing the school record she holds at 2:13.98
 
Amber Von Essen took 6th in 400m hurdles in a time of 65:93 which is now 5th all-time at OIT.
 
Men's Highlights Day 2
 
Seth Gretz finished in 2nd place in the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.97 just shy of an NAIA "B" and just behind his school record of 14.77
 
Travis Thomas finished 2nd in the 400m in a time of 48.97 now #2 at OIT just off the school record set by Jgwon Hogges of 48.08 in 2008.
 
Donnie Pate was 8th in the 100 m in a time of 11.03 in a packed field of NCAA DI and DII runners as he is now 5th all-time at OIT.
 
Hunter Drops was 2nd in Javelin with an NAIA "A" qualifying throw of 57.54 (188'-9")
 
Up next is the Chico Distance Carnival & Twilight April 6 & 7 at Chico State University.
