Men 9th, Women 11th after First Day in California

INDIO, Calif.-  The Oregon Tech men sit in 9th place out of 20 teams with the OIT women in 11th position out of 17 teams after the first day of action in Indio, California.

The OIT men fired a first round 320 and good enough for 6th but they shot a combined 327 in the second round (647 total) to slip to 9th after the first day of the Desert Intercollegiate Tournament being played at the Golf Club at Terra Lago hosted by Corban University.
 
The Hustlin' Owls are being led by Houston Knox who shot a pair of 79's for a 158 total as he is 12-shots behind the leader in 20th out of 108 golfers.
 
Tech's Mayson Tibbs is in 34th after a two round total 161.
 
Tech's Kyle Wolf and Nate Hunter are tied for 47th after their day 1 total of 164. They both shot an 81 on the first round and an 83 on the second round.
 
Corban University is the only other CCC team in the tournament and they are currently just two-shot behind OIT in 10th place after their team total 649.
 
On the Women's side, the OIT women are 26-strokes back after a first round combined score of 331.
 
The lady Owls are being led by Janelle Ferlan who fired a first round 78. Ferlan is in a tie for 15th just five-strokes behind the leader.
 
Tech's Stephanie Koza is tied for 46th out of 97 golfers after her first round 83.
 
The Corban women had a first round total of 325 and are in a tie for 8th place heading into tomorrow's final round at the Bulldog Classic at Indian Springs Golf Club.
