Lady Owls Pick Up Win Over Wolves

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Oregon Tech Lady Owls defeated the Walla Walla University Wolves in game one of the double-header weekend by a score of 69 to 46 on Friday night on Danny Miles Court.

The game began with a bit of a slow start, seeing neither team hit a shot for the first 3:00 minutes of the competition. WWU broke the ice with a jump shot in the paint, and Tech responded on the other end with a 3-pointer. The Owls kept their offensive momentum to close out the quarter, putting in 21-points to the Wolves 11-points.

The second quarter of play saw the Lady Owls hold the visitors to just 6-points, while adding 15-points to their own tally. The teams entered the halftime break with a score of 36 to 17.

Coming off the break, the visiting Wolves began to find more of an offensive presence, but were outscored by the Owls 18 to 16 in the quarter.

To close out the game, Tech once again outscored Walla Walla by 2-points in the quarter, as the teams scored 15 and 13 points respectively. With the final buzzer, the Lady Owls pick up the with by a score of 69-46.

On the night, the Wolves were led in scoring by Alyssa Blankenship with 11-points and Michaela Garcia with 10-points.

Scoring for the Owls was spread across the board, seeing all eleven players get on the scoresheet on the evening. Bailey Nelson led the team with 10-points and 7 rebounds, while Mikaela Shumaker and Amanda Constant both added 9 points and split 11 rebounds. Nohea Waiwaiole added 8-points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

With the win, the Lady Owls move to 4-4 in CCC action and 11-7 on the season, while the Lady Wolves continue to hunt their first win in CCC play, as they are now 0-7 and 2-10 on the season.

The Lady Owls will match up against the Lady Wolves again tomorrow, Sunday, at 2:00pm.
