Lady Owls Fall to No. 6 Eastern Oregon in CCC Semifinals

LA GRANDE, Ore.-  No. 6 Eastern Oregon University (29-2) continued their dominance of the Cascade Conference as they downed the determined Oregon Tech (20-11) Lady Owls 77-65 Friday night in the Semifinals of CCC 2017-18 Women's Basketball Championships presented by U.S. Bank at the Quinn Coliseum.
 
EOU improved to 22-0 against Cascade Conference teams and will host Southern Oregon on Monday, February 26 in the conference tournament championship.
 
Tech went on a 1st quarter 8-0 run to take an 18-11 lead before going scoreless over the final 4:24 of the frame to trail 21-18.
 
A 16-15 Tech second quarter cut the margin to 36-34 at the half.
 
EOU increased the lead to 57-52 after the third quarter. The Mounties outscored the Owls 20-13 in the 4th to seal the win.
 
Eastern had its poorest game of the season from the three point line going 4-of-18. A far cry from their team average 42% on the year.
 
Each team had three players score in double figures. The winners were led by Stormee Van bells game high 21 with Maya Ah-you Dias and Mariah Swanson adding 17-points each.
 
Nohea Waiwaiole led the Owls with 18-points with Megan Morris adding 14 and Mikaela Shumaker chipping in 12 points in the loss.
 
Oregon Tech finishes the season at 20-12 and returns its entire roster next season when it opens up at home on October 28th against Northwest Indian College at 5:30 pm at Danny Miles Court.
