KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Klamath and Lake Community Action Services, and Klamath Hospice are both celebrating selections in the Top 100 Nonprofits to Work for in Oregon.

“I am very pleased to share with the community that our organization improved in both size and ranking when compared to 2020,” says Christina Zamora, Executive Director of Klamath and Lake Community Action Services. “Our ranking last year was 26th in the small organization category, this year KLCAS ranked 24th in the medium organization category.”

Each April, the Oregon Business Magazine releases an online survey for employees of non-profits across the state to complete. Nonprofit organizations must register and respond to a separate survey that requests information on employee benefits such as paid holidays, insurance coverage, and vacation sick leave. The employee online survey is then provided and KLCAS leadership requests all team members complete the survey prior to the deadline in July.

KLCAS has provided consistent service delivery throughout the pandemic, placing pressure on team members to learn to deliver services remotely while balancing their responsibilities at home. KLCAS has also been working to improve the workplace culture and environment while recognizing the need for flexibility and innovation to ensure access to the programs which can support community members recovering from the negative economic impacts of the pandemic.

“While our work is centered around providing supportive services to the community, maintaining and strengthening relationships with our community partners, we can’t be successful without a strong team,” stated Christina Zamora. “Our team has demonstrated their commitment to the community over the past nineteen months since we closed our office to the public. Concurrently, our leadership team has been working to ensure that our team has a work environment that encourages professional growth, values a healthy work/life balance, and recognizes what each team member brings to our team. The fact that we improved our ranking in comparison to last year tells me that our team is familiar with the improvements that we’ve made and that we’re moving forward in a positive direction.”

The 35 employees of the Klamath Hospice and Palliative Care are also included in the Oregon Business Top-100 list as #7 in the medium organization category (20-49 employees).

Workers at this health care nonprofit praised the benefits package, commitment to work-life balance and clearly communicated expectations. “The medical benefits are a huge piece, living in a small town, to get in-network services.”
