KCC’s Dr. Julie Murray-Jensen to be President of Blackburn College

KLAMATH FALLS – Congratulations to Dr. Julie Murray-Jensen, the vice president of enrollment and external affairs and foundation executive director at Klamath Community College. She will be the new president at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill.

Murray-Jensen’s last day at KCC is Dec. 14.

“We are very proud of Julie and her accomplishments at KCC,” said KCC President Dr. Roberto Gutierrez. “During her time with us, she has demonstrated the characteristics and principles that will make her an outstanding president. I am excited to see her move into this new leadership position.”

Murray-Jensen joined KCC in 2010 as the dean of student services. She later became the vice president of enrollment and external affairs, and became executive director of the KCC Foundation in June 2016.

In her position as vice president of enrollment and external affairs, Murray-Jensen oversaw workforce and community education development, the Klamath Center for Education and Training, marketing and outreach, and a host of other positions related to the college’s success.

As foundation director, in 2017 Murray-Jensen helped the college raise more than $850,000 for the Work Skills Technology Center through the “Completing the Transformation” campaign, which was co-chaired by former Klamath County Commissioner Jim Bellet and former state Rep. Steve Harper.

“I will miss KCC and our community tremendously,” Murray-Jensen said. “KCC has such fantastic leadership in Dr. Gutierrez, and all of our faculty and staff are strong and innovative in service to our community. I am looking forward to applying many of the efforts we’ve implemented at KCC to Blackburn College and am excited for the challenge of serving as president.”

Murray-Jensen begins her new position at Blackburn on Jan. 14, 2019. Blackburn is a four-year liberal arts college that was founded 1837.

KCC is conducting a nationwide search to fill the vice president of enrollment and external affairs position. KCC’s Director of Workforce Development Charles “Chip” Massie will serve as the interim vice president of enrollment and external affairs until the position is filled.
