Input sought from groups and agencies contributing to local public health efforts

The following is a press release from Healthy Klamath and Klamath County Public Health.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Klamath County groups and agencies that participate in shaping the public health environment are encouraged to participate in a short survey.

While the county government has a public health department, there are many contributions made to public health from other groups and agencies. For instance, businesses and individuals “create, champion, and implement policies, plans, and laws that impact health.” That is one of the questions asked in the 17-question survey.

Also, schools and churches often “communicate effectively to inform and educate people about health, factors that influence it, and how to improve it.” It’s another of the survey questions.

The survey is being sponsored by the Healthy Klamath Coalition, and can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2021KCLPHA. It will be open through April 2.

The Local Public Health System Assessment (LPHSA) is one of four assessments that inform the development of a strategic community health assessment that leads to a community health improvement plan. The purpose of the assessment is to identify the activities and capacities of the local public health system and identify areas for strengthening the system’s ability to respond to day-to-day public health issues and to public health emergencies.
