Industrial Fire Precaution Level raise to Level II and Adjective Class to a “High”

LAKEVIEW, Ore. –The South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership raised the Industrial Fire Precaution Level II (Partial Hootowl) and the Adjective Rating Class (Fire Danger Rating) to a “High” for the Fremont-Winema National Forest, Lakeview District Bureau of Land Management, Klamath-Lake District Oregon Department of Forestry, Crater Lake National Park, and Sheldon-Hart NWR Complex lands effective at 00:01 Wednesday morning July 24, 2019. 

The decision to transition to an IFPL II was made based on current temperatures, relative humidity, fuel moisture levels, and projected conditions over the coming weeks.

Level II - Partial Hootowl – The following may operate between the hours of 8 p.m. and 1 p.m. local time:

  • Power saws except at loading sites

  • Cable yarding

  • Blasting

  • Welding or cutting of metal

Beginning Wednesday, July 24th, 2019, at 12:01 AM, all private, county, and state wildlands protected by the Klamath-Lake District, Oregon Department of Forestry [ODF], along with Walker Range Forest Patrol Association will be placed under a PUBLIC REGULATED USE CLOSURE.  For more information please visit:

The conditions will continue to be extremely dry until we receive significant precipitation. Please continue to be vigilant and use caution when recreating on public and private lands.

It is the responsibility of all individuals to know and comply with the IFPL levels that are in place. Failure to comply with fire precautionary requirements may result in the issuance of a violation notice.
