Hustlin’ Owls Sweep College of Idaho in NAIA West Double-Header

Caldwell, Idaho – Oregon Tech swept College of Idaho Saturday in an NAIA-West double-header, taking game one 7-3 and game two 4-3 in 11-innings at Wolfe Field. OIT improves to 11-14 on the year and is now 3-3 in NAIA-West play. COI slips to 1-4 in NAIA-West action and 8-13 overall with the two losses.
 
Head Coach Matt Miles on his team's first ever sweep in Caldwell, "Great pitched games and enough clutch hitting to complete the sweep. The team is stepping up and getting the job done picking up big conference wins on the road."
 
Game 1 – Oregon Tech 7 College of Idaho 3
 
Doug Molzahn improved to 3-2 on the year as he pitched the first 6-innings, giving up just 5-hits and 2-runs with 6-strikouts for the Owls.
 
Josh Kallstrom stroked his NAIA-west leading 5th home run and Austin Zavala added his second long ball to highlight the Owls' offense.
 
Zavalla and Alex Poltz had 3-hits each for OIT who scored 2-runs in each the 4th and 5th innings then added 3-runs in 6thto jump out to a 7-0 lead then hold on for the 7-3 win.
 
Game 2 Oregon Tech 4 College of Idaho 3 (11-innings) 
 
Chase Wago pitched the first 10-innings giving up just 7-hits and 2-runs (1 earned) with 6-strikouts as he picked up the win on the bump and improved to 4-1 on the year for the Hooter. Trask Telesmanich picked up his 4th save of the year pitching the 11th inning for Tech.
 
Tech's Justin Jordan broke open a 2-2 tie in the top of the 11th with his game high third hit of a huge two-out two-RBI single scoring Ryan Riepma and Alex Poltz.
 
The teams will conclude the series with a double-header Sunday scheduled for 10:00 AM in Caldwell.
