The following is a press release from the Klamath Falls Downtown Association.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Klamath Falls Downtown Association (KFDA) announces that downtown businesses are ready for the holiday shopping season with promotions and activities now through Christmas.

“Our unofficial kickoff for the holiday shopping season is the day after Scarecrow Row. This year, our downtown business community has come together to provide some great opportunities to get a head start on your holiday shopping and support our community’s locally-owned small businesses at the same time,” said Darin Rutledge, KFDA Executive Director.

For holiday shoppers, there are multiple opportunities to make Downtown Klamath Falls your holiday shopping headquarters:

  • Quest for Holiday Cash presented by the Ross Ragland Theater
    November 5 through December 10.
KFDA has partnered with Enhanced Visitor Experience to offer the second “Quest for Cash” in Downtown Klamath Falls. Shoppers will complete a Quest for Holiday Cash by visiting all participating businesses using the Enhanced Visitor Experience mobile app. At each business, they’ll answer a question, the answer for which can only be found at that business. Once they’ve completed the quest, they are entered into a drawing for a $1,000 cash prize at the end of the promotion. Weekly prizes will also be awarded. Get the Enhanced Visitor Experience app at the Apple or Android app stores.

  • Downtown Holiday First Look
    November 5, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Several downtown businesses have partnered to offer an after-hours shopping experience that is designed to introduce you to their new products and services as well as holiday seasonal offerings. Participating businesses will also be running sales and promotions, and some will provide appetizers and refreshments.

  • Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 Chocolate Walk
    November 26, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
This fun fundraiser for DAV Chapter 12 will have hundreds of shoppers visiting downtown businesses to sample their best chocolate offerings. At the end of the tour, they will vote on their favorite cocoa-based treat! Proceeds support DAV Chapter 12, a local organization providing important services to veterans and their dependents.

  • Downtown Holiday Storefront Decorating Contest, presented by Sargent CPA.
Through December 25 (“People’s Choice” voting December 5-8).
Downtown businesses are encouraged to decorate their storefront, then register for a contest that will culminate during the Snowflake Festival. Many businesses have already decorated, and many more will be showing off their storefront soon. On Dec. 5, visit KFDA’s Facebook page to vote for your favorite. The winning business will be announced right before the Snowflake Parade on Dec. 8, and will win a cash prize from KFDA!

  • Small Business Weekend & Downtown Shop Hop
    November 25-26
Downtown Klamath Falls will be buzzing with holiday shoppers during this annual event designed to celebrate small businesses. On Saturday, several downtown businesses will partner to offer a Holiday Shop Hop with door prizes, special sales and promotions, refreshments, and a chance to win a vacation! Entries into the drawing are earned by providing receipts from downtown businesses. Small Business Saturday is an annual event sponsored by American Express, and Downtown Klamath Falls has also adopted the traditional “Black Friday” as part of its celebration. KFDA recognizes that there are some products that can’t be found locally, but asks consumers to give local businesses a chance to meet their shopping needs before turning to a big box store or the internet.

Along with these retail opportunities, other holiday activities will be taking place downtown during the shopping season, including the Snowflake Festival Community Tree Lighting on December 5, and the Snowflake Parade and Snowflake Mile on December 8.
