Highway 97 Ramp to Downtown to be Closed

Bridge deck of exit ramp to be replaced starting March 5th

This project will replace the bridge deck of the Link River Bridge northbound exit connection which serves as the U.S. 97 Business route and exit for Klamath Falls City Center.

The Link River Bridge is located on U.S. 97 in Klamath Falls at the mouth of the Klamath River and Lake Ewauna.

The bridge is expected to reopen on May 31st, depending on weather. 

The Oregon Department of Transportation plans to remove the existing bridge deck and replace it with structural concrete. The joints and rails of the bridge will also be replaced to meet current standards.

The bridge currently has an epoxy overlay that has de-bonded from the bridge deck and several potholes have developed in the concrete. The bridge rail and transitions also need to be updated to meet current standards.

These repairs are needed to keep the off-ramp operating and ensure that travelers to Klamath Falls can reach their destinations. This project will make U.S. 97 safer for all travelers and extend the life of the highway which is an important route for interstate traffic as well as local and business traffic.

Cost on the project is expected at $1.2 million.

Traffic Impacts

The Link River Bridge northbound off ramp will be closed for a several week period during construction. Traffic will be detoured to the north via the Crater Lake Parkway/Esplanade/Main Street exit.
