Klamath Falls, Ore. – Tastes of food and drink are not the only features at Taste of Klamath this year. On Saturday, June 16, 2018 the Ross Ragland Theater will unveil a completely new type of programming. The Ragland Digital Xperience, known as RDX, is world-class entertainment and performing arts in high-definition and Dolby Surround Sound.

“This is a game changer because we can expand our programs to offer world-class theater, rock ‘n roll, family shows, opera and ballet, and sporting events—all at affordable ticket prices and with great student and senior discounts.” said Mark McCrary, Ragland Executive Director.  Tickets may be purchased at the Ragland ticket office or online at rrtheater.org. General event tickets are $15 adult, $13 senior and $8 with student ID. Prices are slightly higher for opera and ballet and lower for family shows.  The Ragland will continue to show live events and will add two to three RDX events per month. 

Notable upcoming RDX programming includes:

  • Queen Rock Montreal, iconic concert movie from one of the world’s greatest bands. Original footage re-mastered to create the best-ever cinema experience. July 12, 7:30
  • Whisper of the Heart,   Family show. Studio Ghibli, acclaimed Japanese animation, A young girl finds that all the books she chooses in the library have been previously checked out by the same boy. Is he someone she knows? August 18 11am
  • The Beatles: The Touring Years In 1964 four young men from Liverpool stepped onto the Ed Sullivan stage, changing culture forever.  Then they went on tour. August 17, 7pm
  • La Boheme, Puccini’s masterpiece may be the best-loved of all operas. Royal Opera House. A group of young artists eke out an existence on the bohemian fringes of 19th century Paris. Visualized in spectacular, stylized 1850s setting. September 15, 7pm
  • Romeo & Juliet,  Stars Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad. Shakespeare’s tragic story of star-crossed lovers. What if your first true love was someone you’d been told you must hate? November 10, 7pm
  • The Woodsman, Broadway HD.  An imaginative retelling of the origins of Oz’s Tin Woodsman—the woman he loved and the witch that would stop at nothing to keep them apart. Spectacular life-size puppetry and original music presents an inventive take on one of America’s original fairy tales. October 13 at 6pm and October 14 at 2pm

The theater is working with Discover Klamath and civic groups to use RDX shows to enhance tourism and community engagement.  They hope to partner with schools, colleges, businesses and others who may wish to use the digital cinema equipment.
