KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Klamath County Commissioner, Donnie Boyd, has announced his resignation from the Board effective January 10, 2022, citing “personal reasons.”

Commissioner Boyd made his announcement during the Commissioner Reports portion of the Board of County Commissioners business meeting held last Tuesday.

“I’d like to thank all the citizens of Klamath County for the last five years. I would especially like to thank all my friends and supporters for their confidence in me as I work for the citizens of Klamath County as a Klamath County Commissioner. I appreciate and enjoy my time in office and working to improve Klamath County in many different ways. Therefore, it is with very mixed emotions, that I am announcing my resignation, for personal reasons, effective January 10, 2022. I would like to say thanks everybody for letting me be here,” said Commissioner Boyd.

Following his announcement, Commissioner Kelley Minty Morris, board chair, responded by thanking Commissioner Boyd on behalf of the citizens of Klamath County and the Klamath County Board of Commissioners, for his service to the citizens of Klamath County and committing his “life’s energy” to the position.

“I want to thank you for your service,” said Commissioner Minty Morris. “These seats are very unique to hold. I think it’s safe to say that nobody that gets into them knows quite what to expect. I can say from my own experience it takes all your lives energy to do that work. I want to thank you on behalf of the citizens and on behalf of the board, for the last five years spending your lives energy. That is a very big deal and these jobs are very hard.”

Commissioner Minty Morris and Commissioner Derrick Degroot will appoint someone to fill the remainder of Commissioner Boyd’s seat. Starting on January 11, 2022. A new commissioner will be elected in November. Anyone wishing to run in the election will need to file by March 8, 2022.
