‘Chilouqin Skies’ star party postponed

An astronomy event to observe the night sky will be offered in Chiloquin on Saturday, April 27.

The “Chiloquin Skies Star Party,” originally scheduled for April 6, has been postponed due to a forecast for cloudy skies over the next several days.

The event, to be held at Spink Park in west Chiloquin, is cosponsored by the City of Chiloquin and the Klamath County Museum. For more information contact Michelle Ochoa at (541) 783-2600.

Other astronomy events planned for later this year include the following:

  • May 11 – Spring Astronomy Day.

  • June 21 – Mercury meets Mars, with Saturn rising.

  • August 3 – Astronomy “superstars” Jupiter and Saturn.

  • Sept. 21 – Moon in the morning.

  • Oct. 5 – Fall Astronomy Day.

  • Nov. 11 – Mercury transit across the sun.

  • Nov. 23 – Venus meets Jupiter.

  • Dec. 28 – Moon and Venus photo op.
