‘Chiloquin Skies’ star party planned, April 27

An astronomy event to observe the night sky will be offered in Chiloquin Saturday, April 27. The “Chiloquin Skies Star Party” will be held at Spink Park on the north Chiloquin Highway in west Chiloquin. Signs will mark the location.

Several amateur astronomers will be on hand with telescopes for viewing distant objects, and will be prepared to help participants identify major constellations. A program with stories about the night sky will be presented at 8:30 p.m. Best viewing conditions will occur after 9 p.m.

Saturday’s event is cosponsored by the City of Chiloquin and the Klamath County Museum. For more information call (541) 783-2600.

  • June 21 – Mercury meets Mars, with Saturn rising.

  • August 3 – Astronomy “superstars” Jupiter and Saturn.

  • Sept. 21 – Moon in the morning.

  • Oct. 5 – Fall Astronomy Day.

  • Nov. 11 – Mercury transit across the sun.

  • Nov. 23 – Venus meets Jupiter.

  • Dec. 28 – Moon and Venus photo op.
