Chiloquin, Ore. - Chiloquin Fire and Rescue plans to hold a live Mass Casualty drill on May 19, 2018.

Emergency agencies throughout Klamath County will be participating in the drill with primary response supported by Chiloquin Fire and Rescue. In total, over fourteen local agencies will be involved, including: Klamath County Fire District #1, Keno Fire, Crescent Fire, Sky Lakes Medical Center, Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath County 9-1-1, Basin Ambulance, The Klamath Tribes, AirLink, KCC, Chemult Fire, Klamath County Fire District #3.

The live drill provides an opportunity for mutual aid agencies to work together in a controlled environment to improve response and communications, and allow educational opportunities associated with a mass casualty emergency. 

The drill will center on a tour bus that has crashed. Community volunteers will act as patients. Some patients may be transported to a “virtual” hospital located at Chiloquin’s airport. 

The exercise is observed and evaluated by a variety of managers from the emergency services systems and is critical to the improvement of communications and procedures between the airport and other participating agencies. 

Statements to the media will be made near the incident site, which will be located on Second Avenue, near the park in the center of Chiloquin. The drill is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2018. 

In the event of an actual emergency, Chiloquin Fire and Rescue will have contingency crews available.
