The following is a press release from Discover Klamath.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Discover Klamath’s Board of Directors today announces the retirement and departure of its executive director Jim Chadderdon, effective March 31, 2022. Over the last twelve years, Chadderdon was instrumental in establishing and growing tourism initiatives for Klamath County and its key tourism stakeholders.

The board thanks Chadderdon for his many years of service, and expresses its gratitude on behalf of the entire region for growing Klamath County tourism and the mission for Discover Klamath.

“It’s been an honor to serve Klamath County’s Tourism stakeholders, tourism in our region. Discover Klamath has a bright future” says Jim Chadderdon.

The Board of Directors is recruiting candidates to fill its Executive Director position and has named Tonia Ulbricht as Interim Executive Director.

Ulbricht is a resident of Klamath Falls for twenty years and has been with Discover Klamath for the past eight years, most recently as its Senior Marketing Manager. Ulbricht has forged lasting relationships with many key stakeholders in the local tourism and recreation landscape and has played a key part in the success of Ride the Rim, a large event at Crater Lake National Park. Ulbricht brings enthusiasm and energy to carry forward Discover Klamath’s mission and strategic objectives by strengthening and building new partnerships with tourism stakeholders, leveraging outdoor recreational assets and building focus on key niches while continuing to push stewardship messaging to help preserve our assets for future use, and creating a positive community image alongside key partners.

“On behalf of our Board of Directors, we want to thank Jim for his tremendous contribution to our organization, and for his work in building Klamath County as a tourist destination over the past twelve years. Jim has positioned the organization well to pursue new strategic objectives that will further bolster the economic impact of tourism in Klamath County,” said Discover Klamath’s Board President Darin Rutledge.

Rutledge adds, “Tonia’s experience with the organization and her involvement in our most recent strategic planning process is welcome as we move forward marketing our community and building its tourism assets, and as we pursue new strategic objectives that will strengthen the local tourism industry and its partners. We are fully confident in Tonia’s ability to lead the organization seamlessly through this transition as we execute our search for a new Executive Director.”
