BOCC Announces Murphy as Finance Director

The Klamath County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce Sue Murphy as the new Klamath County Finance Director.

Sue Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Accounting Option, from Montana State University-Billings (formerly Eastern Montana College). She successfully passed the Uniform CPA Exam in 1988, earning the Elijah Watt Sells Award with High Distinction for her efforts.

Ms. Murphy’s career has encompassed a diverse background of accounting work over several decades in both the public and private sector. Her most recent role was that of Chief Financial Officer for a Federally-Qualified Health Center in Montana, which she served remotely from her home in Oregon.

Murphy and her husband have resided in Klamath County for the past five years. She has two adult children, a son and a daughter, and is eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchildren (twins!) in August, 2018. When not working, her hobbies include cooking, hiking and travel. She is an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and P.E.O., an international organization that provides educational opportunities to women. As a member of P.E.O., Sue has volunteered locally and at the state level, serving as state Finance Committee Chair in both Montana and Oregon.

As the Klamath County Finance Director, Murphy said, “I look forward to bringing my skills, experience, and commitment to the complex and detailed work of finances within Klamath County.”
